No clinically significant changes were found as regard to weight, pulse rate, blood pressure, blood chemistry, electrolyte and urinalysis.
This study was before-after clinical trial on 14 outpatients (9 F, 5 M, age 14-50 Y) with central diabetes insipidus who had been treated with intranasal spray of desmopressin previously. So, if a patient is on a nasal (spray or intranasal) dose of 10mcg (0.1 ml) twice a day, then a suitable tablet oral dose may be 100mcg or 200mcg twice a day

In this study, efficacy and side effects of oral desmopressin was compared with the intranasal spray.
When switching from the desmopressin acetate injection to DDAVP Nasal Spray, administer 10 times the amount of desmopressin acetate, rounding down to the nearest 10 mcg. Administer DDAVP Nasal Spray by intranasal use only. Desmoperssin is the drug of choice for treatment of central diabetes insipidus and most commonly it is used as intranasal spray. Paired Samples T-Test was used for data analysis. Weight, pulse rate and blood pressure (sitting-standing), biochemical profile, serum electrolytes, 24h urine volume, specific gravity of urine and LFT was measured before and after 1 month study. Methods: A Retrospective, descriptive study in DI patients under control at the Catholic University of Chile and Sotero del Rio Hospital between 1998-2008 is presented. Therapeutic effects start at above 100 micrograms.
