Your clinician can instruct you in tapering your dose and prescribe the appropriate dosage pills. How should you come off antidepressants?
No Taper Strategy for Pristiq. If I were you I'd put plans in place, like friends and family, just in case things go wrong. She has been living with bipolar disorder for 22 years and has written more than 1000 articles on the subject. I managed to wean down by staggering my dose of 2 50mg tablets spaced out further and further until it was one every 24 hours.
I AM HAVING ALOT OF SYMTOMS. I started it back in 2009 and want to be off of it. It has also caused hypertension….I have gained 10 pds in a year. You are exactly correct – some people can't live without their antidepressants and some people can't live without their benzos. Is this normal withdrawal symptoms! Said I didn’t need to taper off Pristiq, just start taking Effexor. Even if you are tapering off Wellbutrin, it is still possible to experience discontinuation symptoms, such as the ones mentioned in Part 1. You doctor can explain that to you, I’m sure.Well, I'm glad you talked to your doctor and made a plan. I soaked one of them for an hour in water and the colour coating came off and then there was a gelatinous coating. Any advice, or anyone else’s experience is appreciated.Hey Becka, sorry to hear about the sudden shift in treatment and this fast down-taper. So getting off of Pristiq wasn’t on my short list of fun things to do. Have you had any responses to your post? Reduce your dosage consumed over the span of several weeks. If you want to succeed don’t be in a rush. Then half the dose completely. I’m not the sporty type of person but I choose 2 things I like doing and stuck to it.
i have been on seroquel which was the best but also raised HDL and triglycerides…lamactil which almost drove me crazy and only 10 mg of Prozac which made me nuts.
After 6 years on Pristiq 100mg I’ve decided to wean myself off.I’ve spoken with my doctor who wasn’t helpful and just gave me a script for 50mg tabs and said “try it see what happens”After reading the horror stories (and experiencing the withdrawals when missing a day here and there) I’m quite a bit nervous to start this.I understand cutting the tablets is a no-no because of the complicated matrix for the time release of the desvenlafaxine.I’m wondering if anyone has tried putting the tablets in water to allow for some of the ingredient to become “used” so that the tablet is at a lower dose? The longer the half-life, the less severe the withdrawal symptoms will be. It’s a shame, but good thing is that I realize I need to be off these drugs. In the early days if I was 1 hour late I would feel them.
