She was such an inspiration about her illness, which she actually never mentioned until the end that I can recall, and a pity party was certainly not her style. I took one of her classes and she was just as charming in person as she was on TV. Have learned so much from her. I have enjoyed Nancys PBS programs since the 1980s. It was as if she was by MY side helping me through a new technique. I have several of her sewing and quilting books and still watch the old shows on PBS or on the computer. She was a great sewist and her sewing skills which she left us in her books and DVDs and shows which we still can view will continue to inspire sewing enthusiasts for a very long time. Knowing that I sewed she bought a small TV in the laundry room so that I could watch Nancy while I was doing her ironing. Loved her book and I miss her terribly. Have been out of town so getting to my emails late. Very often I would go home and turn on Nancy and 9 times out of 10 she would be showing me how to take care of the problem we had in the costume studio. She was such a go-getter. So thankful for her loving family and friends; her faith brought her through many challenges. I plan to read both books. If there is ever anything that I want to learn about sewing or quilting I always know I can look it up and see how Nancy does it. I came to appreciate Nancy and her gifts as I learned improved techniques. Im not much of a good sewer, but have learned so much from her, on basic sewing to creative sewing. Nancy inspired me to continue to sew! She was so wonderful at what she did so creative and such a lady and great example to all of us who wanted to sew and quilt like she did. I have learned so much from watching her on TV along with the guests that she would have on her show. And then she had Betty Cotton on so I made a quilt from those days and to the sweatshirts from Mary Mulari. I have not read any of the books but I am still a fan of Nancy. when the grandchildren were so young. Thank you, Nancy! Although she is missed, she lives on in each of us who remember and admired her. I used to live in WI and visited her Beaver Dam store many times. She came to my home each week via her PBS program and taught me to be a better seamstress. Im 89 years old and have watched Nancy forever!!! She listened to every word I said and gave me advice that I could use. She was so strong and determined, plus you could see how gracious , kind and respectful of others she was. She was such an inspiration about her illness, which she actually never mentioned until the end that I can recall, and a pity party was certainly not her style. Nancy was my inspiration and in many ways my mentor. I also use to get catalogs from Nancys Notions. I would love to read more about her, especially what she was like off screen. I have a feeling she was the same person 24 hours a day, which is refreshing in this day and age! I became interested in landscape quilting from reading her book and her simple instructions and I make many of my own clothes. keeping my fingers crossed. I was amazed and in awe of her strength, integrity, and character! Nancy was someone that everyone who sewed could look up to She was encouraging and felt that everyone could do it with just a little instruction that she was wiling to give to us. I also did well in Make-It-Yourself With Wool competitions, placing 3rd in the Colorado State competition. I felt so inspired by Nancy. I couldnt hardly wait for the new seasons to begin, but one thing in life we can count on is CHANGE. you are missed. I recorded her quite a few of her shows and enjoy reviewing them. I loved her charity segments, and they have provided me numerous outlets for my creativity. I never got to meet Nancy in person but like so many others I watched and rewatched her shows and felt that I knew her. I enjoyed watching her show when I wasnt working. I miss her coming into my home and sharing her expertise. I still cry when I read anything about Nancy. She certainly created quite a legacy. She inspired me to be better and try new things. I was similarly introduced to her sewing shows via our local PBS station. Well I am just starting to teach myself how to quilt and recently found Sewing With Nancy on PBS. I have many of her books and they have been a tremendous blessing. She was genuine, humble, and a very lovely true lady. Her faith is so inspiring and something we all can use more of! Although I never had the privilege of meeting Nancy, I felt we were dear friends. I am thankful that we can still enjoy spending time with her by watching shows again on our local PBS stations and via the website.
