My Marlin 1895 XLR in .45-70 can put 5 rounds through a single jagged hole at 50 yards with a 2-7 power Leupold scope using the 325 grain LeverEvolution ammo. IIRC mfg date is 2007. One of my sons has a Marlin Model 1894 in .357 Magnum/.38 Special calibers and while this was one of the "JM" stamped Marlin lever guns built by Marlin (before their Freedom Group/Remington buyout) in North Haven, CT, it has never given him any issues with feeding rounds nor ejecting properly.
