To attempt to generalize thousands and thousands of women based on a national chapter is humorous to me. Why is it that every other day we get some insecure big 6 girl coming in and posting a thread like this to reaffirm the outdated social hierarchy theyre so desperate to maintain. Kappa.doesnt have the rich rep, or cute, they kinda hate each other. So just saying "sororities aren't my thing" or "I'm not a sorority girl" is dumb to me. Maybe because of the money they bring with them, their houses tend to be one of the nicest on campus. Those young ladies are awesome. PAN LOVE PEOPLE!! I personally like Kappa better than Pi Phi or Theta but can see why others would prefer one of other two. Most houses will already have an idea of girls they like before rush even starts.

I understand that as soon as a thread like this is started, people are re-directed to Greek Rank, but Greek Rank is horrible and biased! The women of the west are changing what it means to be part of a strong group of women who want to help change the world not just change an outfit. AXD Also they have the majority of UT cheerleaders. Theyre actually much more attractive than KD and ADPi. Kappa has less party girls and more YL girls than Pi Phi and Theta. Most, if not all, sororities have sophomore quotas meaning that they have to accept a certain number of girls who rush their sophomore year. Also girls from wealthy areas who have strong connections. GPA requirement, population, "goals") then go Here. Wouldnt be surprised if they continue to improve over the next few years. This reputation is by no means uniform, which may be due to the diversity of girls who pledge KD. They are leaders. Alpha Chi Omega. Theta smart and cute. However, this stereotype may be sour grapes on the part of other sororities with inferiority complexes. Kappa Kappa Gamma? Focuses almost only on GPA.If they focused a little less on GPA and more on looks they would def go up. But no, they are not improving. I'd say Chi O is more top tier and Pi Phi is universal top tier. Having stellar grade matter. What are the sorority reputations at UT? They are at orientation and are attending the Frat parties and they are watching you. Sorority girls are empowered woman driven to make a difference, donate time and better themselves. You have nothing to loose, and you'll never know if you could absolutely love it until you try it!! There is usually a six to eight week period for new pledges to assess whether the sorority is the right fit. My younger sister pledged Pi Phi at Kansas, and again, mostly blonde, debutantes, and extremely selective. Those girls that went AXD are beautiful And would easily have fit in with DG if there was room. Obviously it varies from university to university and chapter to chapter. As long as you realize that the average frat guy is not out for meaningful relationships (especially freshman and sophomore years) the better chance you have at not falling prey to the you are so special garbage. i don't have much info on sororities but i am a freshman in texas angels! Unlike some other top-tier sororities, Kappa Delta members do not have a reputation for being all clones or princesses, but they tend to be popular and social. There are some sororities that are almost impossible to get in if you don't have a specific resume, as they have their list prepared ahead of recruitment. Lower tier. The reputation of DG is that they are classy, supportive of each other, focused on girl-power, and heavily involved in campus activities. I feel bad talking negatively about them because Ive never met a DG that I didnt like. Find something you're interested in, but most importantly, just get a feel for where you belong. You will find some houses that feel welcoming, some that dont and that all depends on you as a person. Care about money, looks, and highschool GPA. Alpha Phi girls are considered laid-back and probably the least likely among major sororities to worry about their reputation. Overall Theta competes with Pi Phi and Kappa (less with Kappa in the past couple of years with their suspension for hazing and having to snap bid like twenty five girls a few years back). This is literally the absolute dumbest article I've read about sororities since I went to college in 1987. I can agree it has to be an objective sort, of survey that produces such varied results, but as there many kinds of, people, there must be many kinds of "groups" to belong to. Kappa Kappa Gamma seems to be falling in their ranking some due to their wild, "substance' use, and 'easy' dating habits. The biggest sororities have hundreds of chapters across the U.S. and abroadthe oldest have been around since the 1850s. I never felt compelled to join myself, but you are right, those that do good charity work should be admired. What works for one person may not work for another. It was where I felt I fit in, and I ended up finding out that I would have been extremely unhappy if I'd gone with my old friends. . They have a reputation for accepting those who were rejected by top-tier sororities and that they are a backup option for many. Friendships in sorority last a lifetime. With national chapters having hundreds of thousands of members you can't possibly categorize all of them into a few nasty words. Stop dropping girls only because you think they might go PKT. Those girls were dropped much earlier in the week. My experience was that the Kappas, Thetas and Pi Phis were tops. Just do a search for threads about UT. ,If you are coming to UT really raw, meaning no greek connections what so ever, you have a very large uphill battle. A lot of incoming high school ladies accepted to UT who end up having the most successful recruitment experiences: 1) Get started preparing for recruitment early. Medium low-ish, ish ish. I'll let someone else tell you about them. Participate in recruitment activities. Some sororities have close ties to fraternities on the same campus and get together informally and for major events. Pi Phi and Tri Delt are usually pretty strong up there as well. This is actually pretty accurate and is just making the people who think the sororities cant change ever mad, but every other school has relative rankings that shift over time its normal. IMO will join middle tier in the next few years. However something happened and over the past few years they did a 180. F off with this. Pi Phi: takes mostly girls with money from Highland Park and Memorial areas. Chi O: About 50/50 party girls and non-party girls. They just want to have fun. And the real beauty of the system is that during the "rush" period, EVERYONE, is doing their best to impress. Or, maybe they will just end up in DDD because they were cut from PKT but who cares! "They will always be bottom" is what everyone said about APhi 15-18 years ago when they were literally stuck in a hole that was lower than AXiD! Out of the blue last week my son told us that he was accepted off the waitlist and that TCU was now his first choice. Each chapter varies and although SOME of these stereotypes are similar to those on my campus, some are so far from it. They try to be the cool girls on campus. There is normally a 6-8 week new member period when you can assess whether you want to commit. So if the charity work is what you are worried about, do some research on what the specific philanthropies of the chapters at your school are. Zeta: Amazing pledge class this year. Shame on you. Sorry, ladies. They are held to a higher standard, which pushes them to be the best that they can be. Im proud of my sorority. They tend to be the prettier and wealthier girls. Houses that think all they have to do is take quota and that will keep them comfortably above AXiD will be wondering how they ended up on bottom. I think you are right on about all of them to a large degree. Gamma Phi Beta - mid tier (like to party; not classy; not service oriented) - If you want a party and socialize, then join this sorority. Many consider them to be obsessed with their looks and say they have a reputation for body image issues. In fact, today, someone I know is driving out of town to visit a sorority sister from twenty three years ago. Theta: IMO best pledge class. Hard to rank AEPhi. The Kappas aren't rich like the Pi Phis and Thetas. I'm not a member of either, but I read it and thought "Wow, somebody doesn't like the Pi Phis". These girls are amazingly talented and unique and express their own individualism while having most of the campus like them. It all depends on the school you go to. Sorry. They have heavier girls in their sorority and would completely humiliate their pledges by making them strip down in front of their brother frat to circle 'prob' areas in a sharpie. Chapters that are complacent about what they think can never happen will be caught off guard by the rise or groups that have their eye on the ball.
